The working group of the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion, aiming to utilize the significant findings from the On-Site Surveys conducted in previous years (2021-2023) in the municipalities of the South Aegean Region, is attempting to create a reliable platform with the social characteristics of each island. Therefore, the social profile of the islands in the South Aegean Region is a new, innovative platform of the Observatory, largely based on the reliable findings from the on-site surveys conducted by the research teams during the period 2021-2023. This platform will be updated at the completion of each survey cycle with new data, which in turn will be added to the previous ones, creating a consistent and reliable long-term profile.
The social profile of the islands will contribute, on the one hand, to creating a more comprehensive picture of each municipality in the studied Region and, on the other hand, to identifying potential needs and gaps, focusing primarily on social parameters. At the same time, highlighting best practices and proposals will enhance networking between municipalities and facilitate the exchange of useful information on addressing adverse social phenomena, aiming to improve the living conditions of the Region’s residents. As a long-term goal, a comparative analysis is defined, not between the islands, but of each island’s development over time, which may lead to targeted social interventions and policies in the future.
